Today I’m announcing two big updates to our plans, specifically an update to our Free Plan to help improve the service we provide to our customers and the launch of our new Micro Plan.

Our updated Free Plan

I’m proud that Social Status continues to be one of the only social media analytics tools left on the market to offer a free forever plan. When we started Social Status in 2013, we vowed to maintain a Free Plan to help junior marketers, NFPs and no-budget marketers navigate the world of social media analytics.

Firstly, I want to say to the tens of thousands of users who rely on our Free Plan – thank you!

Thanks for coming back to Social Status every day, every week, every month. It’s such a pleasure to know that we can add value to your functional needs and I truly am grateful for knowing that we play a small part in helping make your work life easier.

As a small business ourselves, we have faced continual rising costs to run the business including the costs of the software we use to build, maintain and support Social Status. Some of our costs have increased 3x and 4x in the past 12 months. The reality is free software doesn’t come cheap. In order to maintain a high level of reliability and service to our paying customers I’ve had to take the necessary step to reduce the plan quota on our Free Plan from 3 to 1.

I understand that plan quota reductions are never welcome but my priority is to maintain our Free Plan rather than remove it completely as most other social analytics tools have done over the years. I can assure you that I remain committed to offering a Free Plan as I understand that thousands of users rely on this Free Plan every day. This reduction in plan quota helps us manage our costs and maintain uptime and performance for our paying customers. If you have the means, I encourage you to consider upgrading to one of our paid plans. In doing so, you’ll be supporting a small business who are passionate about social media analytics and you’ll get full access to the Social Status platform.

Introducing our new Micro Plan

In response to the changes to our Free Plan I have the pleasure to announce a brand new plan to make our award-winning platform even more accessible to social media marketers everywhere. Our new Micro Plan provides 5 plan quota for just $9 per month (or $6.75 when paid annually). This makes it the most cost-effective option for basic social analytics requirements on the web.

If you need to export reports, you’ll need our Starter Plan for PDF reports or our Pro Plan and above for PowerPoint and white label reports. You can compare all our plans and what they include on our Plans page.

Let’s face it, social media reporting is a nightmare. Its a nightmare for brands who need to report on their marketing performance. Its a nightmare for influencers trying to share their performance with their partners. It just plain old sucks.

This is why we built a full suite of social media analytics tools – to streamline the process for both brands and influencers to collaborate and share performance data in a simple way. As a trusted Marketing Partner of all the main social channels, we have a big responsibility to protect the privacy of all data sources connected to our platform. Not only do we have a moral obligation, but we also have a legal obligation. Mishandling user data is a violation of the Terms of Service of each of the social channels that we have agreements with. As we’ve seen with high-profile data violations in the past, these perpetrators engaged in illegal activity to acquire and leverage user data. Thankfully our industry and the legal system clamps down hard to these criminals and rightly so.

Data privacy pledge

At Social Status we don’t have nor will we ever have relationships with third parties to access data on our platform. We created this Data Privacy Pledge as our promise to you that we take data privacy seriously. We will never sell data. I know some users are very cynical about this point, so let me communicate this another way: it makes zero sense for a social media analytics platform like us to ever sell user data or pass it on to another entity for any reason. Our business model revolves around making subscription software for marketers to automate their reporting. There’s no viable business model for us around trying to sell user data. It simply makes no business sense to undermine our primary revenue source which is viable, has long-term profitability and is high growth.

According to research firm Mordor Intelligence, the social analytics industry is growing at 28% annually and will be worth $20B in 2025. The market for illegally selling user data is tiny, its underground, non-viable, unprofitable and extremely high risk.

We’re a vocal advocate in the industry for advancing the highest standards in data privacy and security. Over 8,000 users around the world trust their social analytics and reporting data with us. Its a responsibility we take seriously and we endeavour to build the best product possible to serve our customers and no one else.

Westpac Businesses of Tomorrow Winner

Launched by Westpac (one of Australia’s largest banks) in 2017, the Businesses of Tomorrow program seeks to identify and celebrate the Top 200 most promising businesses in Australia shaping the future.

We’re honored to be the only Australian social media tech company to win the award which speaks to the strength of the product and capabilities that Social Status has built which now serves over 3,000 marketers and advertisers globally.

Businesses were assessed by Deloitte and chosen by a judging panel based on their potential to help tomorrow’s customers, economy and society. The panel consisted of high profile leaders including David Lindberg (Chief Executive of Business Banking for Westpac), Lyn Cobley (Chief Executive of Institutional Banking for Westpac), Alison Deans (Director of Cochlear), Simon Cant (MD of Reinventure GRoup), Tim Fung (CEO of Airtasker) and Prof Ian Harper (Dean of the Melbourne Business School).

As part of the prize, we took part in a 3-day “Take on Tomorrow” program run by Melbourne Business School with inspiring lectures from some of Australia’s brightest minds including Bernard Salt, Mark Ritson, Lisa McInnes-Smith and Scott Bales (pictured below).

What a night! We’re absolutely stoked to have taken out the top prize at the 2014 iAccelerate Pitch Grand Final last night in Wollongong. Social Status also won the runners up prize in the People’s Choice vote.

For us, the win validates the importance of social media analytics for all marketers – big and small. Data-led social strategy is absolutely key for reaching and engaging the right people with the right message on social.
